A visionary student leader who transforms community needs into sustainable solutions through strategic fundraising, research excellence, and cultural advocacy.

Ryan is a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University pursuing Neuroscience with an Applied Math/Statistics minor on the pre-med track, where he has seamlessly blended academic excellence with meaningful community impact. As Vice President and co-founder of the Greater Cincinnati Chinese Cultural Exchange Association—now an official nonprofit—he demonstrated exceptional leadership by growing the organization rapidly within the community while raising over $10,000 annually through strategic fundraising and securing more than $6,000 in local grants through independent grant writing.

His remarkable ability to create lasting cultural impact is exemplified by his groundbreaking cookbook project, where he interviewed multiple AAPI community members and compiled their stories, recipes, and cultural reflections into a published work now archived in the Library of Congress. This project showcases his unique talent for amplifying underrepresented voices and turning meaningful ideas into tangible outcomes. At Hopkins, he serves as Project Manager for Students Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations (SCNO), working directly with Baltimore nonprofits focused on driving change in underserved areas, where he has developed expertise in strategic planning, grant writing, and organizational development.

His research credentials are equally impressive - he secured high school research opportunities through effective cold emailing, presented at regional symposiums, and continues to excel in both wet-bench and clinical research at Johns Hopkins. Combined with his extensive tutoring experience through BlueIvy Learning, the Tutorial Project, and the Henderson-Hopkins MATH Tutorial Program, Ryan is the ideal mentor for students interested in launching impactful initiatives, navigating competitive research environments, building sustainable nonprofits, and creating meaningful change in their communities.
